When you change a coil, the loopers hold extra strip material to keep the slitter running. The whole line needs only three operators and delivers about 40 tons of finished product in an eight hour shift.

Looper Buffering

The uncoiler feed speed and the slitter cutting speed can never stay perfectly matched. Without loopers, speed differences would stretch the strip or cause it to pile up and scratch.

This liner slitting machine uses loopers to solve this problem. When the uncoiler runs slow, the looper continues supplying material. When the uncoiler runs fast, the extra material stores in the looper. The slitter always has material to cut with no stops.

Now that speed is stable, there's another issue to address: the strip must stay centered before entering the main unit.

Side Guide and Slitting Accuracy

The strip passes through the side guide device before entering the slitter. Vertical rollers on both sides hold the strip centered to prevent wandering.

Then the strip enters the slitter, where circular blades cut it into multiple narrow strips along the length direction. The blade gap adjusts based on material thickness. Thick material needs a larger gap; thin material needs a smaller gap. This liner slitting machine holds slitting width accuracy within plus or minus 0.05 millimeters, with smooth edges and no burrs.

After slitting, these strips go through final recoiling and unloading to become finished coils.

Recoiling and Unloading

The slit strips pass through the second looper and the tension stand before entering the recoiler. The tension stand applies backward pull to keep the strips tight during recoiling. The recoiler winds the strips into tight, uniform coils. The expanding mandrel holds the coil core securely from inside. After winding, the mandrel releases and the exit coil car carries the finished coil away.

The tension stand paired with the hydraulic expanding recoiler keeps finished coils tight and neat, and the entire recoiling process on this liner slitting machine ensures consistent coil quality.
